Built in the 19th century, Jaswant Thada, the royal cenotaph, was constructed by Maharaja Sardar Singh ji in the memory of his courageous father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, the 33rd Rathore ruler of Jodhpur. The traditional cremation ground of the Jodhpur royal families, is located close to the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort and is one of the popular tourist destination in Jodhpur.

Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort was built by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur, in 1459 but successive rulers of Jodhpur have also added to it over the centuries. The fort is placed on a 150 m high hill and is one of the the most grand and magnificent fort in Rajasthan. 5 kms above the city, the fort is reached by car through circular roads.

Built in the 20th century, Umaid Bhawan Palace was constructed by Maharaja Umaid Singh. The Palace is set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens.
